About Us

Sabua Foundation is a youth-driven non-governmental organization dedicated to research and community empowerment. Comprising a passionate team of young individuals, predominantly from Eastern Indonesia, our mission is to contribute meaningfully to advancing education, preserving the environment, accelerating technology diffusion, and safeguarding cultural heritage.

Our Story

Sabua Foundation was born out of a crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely disrupted the education sector—particularly in Eastern Indonesia, where technological access remains limited—our founders, mostly scholarship recipients, took a stand. They pooled their scholarship funds to assist students in Eastern Indonesia, ensuring they could stay on the path to achieving their dreams despite the challenges.

This grassroots initiative marked the beginning of our journey. Since then, Sabua Foundation has evolved into a formal organization, maintaining its founding spirit of collaboration, empathy, and action.

In 2025, Sabua Foundation obtained its legal entity status as a foundation (Yayasan) under the official administrative name Sabua Cendekia Timur. The Sabua Foundation was formally established in accordance with Indonesian legal regulations. Its establishment is documented through a Notarial Deed and officially recognized by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia under Decree Number AHU-00157.AH.02.01.Tahun 2019. Furthermore, the foundation is registered with a Business Identification Number (NIB) 1236000592084, signifying its legitimacy as a legally acknowledged entity in Indonesia.

The foundation operates across four main fields: research, environment, culture, and community empowerment. Through these areas, Sabua Foundation actively contributes to knowledge development, environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and the advancement of inclusive and sustainable communities—particularly in Eastern Indonesia.

What We Do

Today, Sabua Foundation continues to champion the causes we hold dear through a dual focus on empowerment programs and research projects:

1. Empowerment Programs:
   We design and implement initiatives that address pressing community needs, such as access to quality education, environmental conservation efforts, technological skill-building, and cultural preservation activities.
2. Research with Impact:
   Our research projects not only aim to generate knowledge but also serve as a foundation for impactful action. The benefits derived from our research are directly reinvested into our empowerment programs, creating a sustainable cycle of positive change.
